Description
“All art is at once surface and symbol. Those who go beneath the surface do so at their peril. Those who read the symbol do so at their peril. It is the spectator, and not life, that art really mirrors.”
Oscar Wilde (The Picture of Dorian Gray)
Reflections of trees in a lake, resembling a water snake. The snake is universal archetype, often representing fertility or creative force, sometimes wisdom, depending on the culture, whereas water is usually associated with emotion. The combination of both therefore is a forceful symbol that may trigger deep emotions.
Part of the Art research project of patterns and rhythms in nature.
I made the soundtrack using the Fontana Mixer of Karlheinz Essl, mixed with local background noise from the footage.
The Fontana mixer is a sound generator based on John Cage’s conceptual piece “Fontana Mix” (1958).
