Rudolf Boogerman
Rudolf Boogerman@RudolfBoogerman
Rudolf Boogerman is a mixed media artist who studied graphic arts in Antwerp. He creates traditional and digital art, often expressing, yet not limited to, abstract ideas about human nature and (r)evolution. His short art videos oscillate between meditative and mesmerizing, sometimes with a wink, other times with a dagger point. His main inspiration to start with art video was David Lynch, a master in creating double layers of meaning and tension with relatively simple film techniques. However, Rudolf uses his camcorder more like a brush, creating moving images rather than traditional short films. He also applies stop motion and sometimes mobilizes his cardboard artwork as actors, as in his recent videos “Man and his symbols” and “Boxed-in”. For the art sound in the videos he works with random sound generators (in the tradition of John Cale) and digital synthesizers for more precise control. From time to time he uses royalty free music when it fits a project.
